Session Title: Protecting Yourself from Synthetic Diamonds and Treated Gemstones While Increasing the Value of Jewelry Inventory by 20 to 50%

Session Description: Jim Littman, former Chief Development Officer of GIA and consultant to De Beers and major grading laboratories including HRD and EGL – USA, will update pawnbrokers on the current state of synthetic diamonds, HPHT and other treatments in the market today.

Moris Adato GG, President and CEO of the Jewelry Appraisal and Gemological Institute (JAGi) (formerly Cal Gem Labs) will explain the current methods for detection, grading and appraisal for the Pawnbroker industry. The JAGi lab examines thousands of diamonds, colored stones, jewelry pieces and watches. Moris will update the industry on the latest detection techniques and review the best ways for pawnbrokers to protect themselves. Moris will also explain the importance of certified appraisals and grading reports for dramatically increasing the value of jewelry in stock.
