The California Pawnbrokers Association held a special reception in honor of Assemblyman Ricardo Lara, representing California’s 50th Assembly District.
The event was held at BG Loan & Jewelry on January 12th. In attendance were Bell Gardens Mayor Jennifer Rodriguez, Mayor Pro Tem Sergio Infanzon, Downey City Councilman Fernando Vasquez, as well as other distinguished City Council Members and local business owners.
Attending from CAPA was President Diane Taylor, First Vice President Tony DeMarco, Executive Director Kim Andosca, CAPA Lobbyists Bill Duplissea, Attorney Jon Webster, Treasurer Mike Herda, and several other CAPA members.
Assemblyman Ricardo Lara recounted how the Assembly Speaker asked him to run for Senate. He expressed his surprise at being asked, having just recently being elected to the Assembly.
Bill Duplissea also spoke about several new pawn laws that went into effect on January 1st.
Later in the evening, team CAPA gave out free posters of California rates to hang in memebers’ stores. It was a fantastic event to start the new year.
