CAPA welcomes Assemblyman Perez at Special Reception

The California Pawnbrokers Association recently held a special reception honoring Assemblyman Perez. The event was one of several important steps CAPA is taking to strengthen its relationships with state legislators.

Sam Shocket and the gracious staff at King’s Jewelry & Loan hosted the event and provided dinner and dessert.

Assemblyman Perez spoke about his positive experiences at pawn shops in California and provided attendees an update on the state budget. He was available to talk with Diane Taylor, Kim Andosca and other CAPA members about the issues facing today’s pawn shops in California.

Bill Duplissea and TonyDe Marco of the legislative committee also spoke about CAPA’s current legislative efforts in Sacramento.

CAPA would like to thank Assemblyman Perez, all the staff and the industry members that attended and contributed to the success of the event.

The pawn industry has received a lot of attention from the media during the holiday season as many Americans look to pawn shops for big savings on their holiday shopping.

Jordan Tabach-Bank, public relations chair for the California Pawnbrokers Association, was featured in a story that aired on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. The report explores the rise in business at pawn shops around the country during the holiday season due to the downturn in the economy and cites pawn shops as an excellent alternative to department stores or retail chains.
